I’ve been off work for a couple days on vacation. Yesterday was my loving wife’s birthday, and today is just for me to be with the family and relax.
I took some time while my beloved slept in yesterday to do some catch up with my training videos. I’ve learned a lot about my new programming language crush – C# – in the last couple of weeks. I don’t think I’m as competent with it as I am with Visual Basic .NET, it’s sister language which I learned first, but I’m a lot farther along now than when I started.
It’s funny, because my wife knew it would come easily and without much pain. Right now, I’m all about trying to figure out how to create a repository, a data access layer, which I can reuse in lots of my mini-programs so I don’t have to recreate it in EVERY mini-program. That’s the situation I have now.
To access more learning spots, I’ve had to learn a new programming language. I didn’t want to, but that’s where the path seems to be leading me. I’ll follow it as best I can and hope the doors I want to be opened will be.
In the meanwhile, I’ve not written a word (of fiction, that is). I don’t have the slightest idea why that might be. I have plenty of material, as I have previously whined. I have limited time, but even some writing would be better than absolutely none. I did help Bryce get his last novel-length work edited, but I’ve not done any work of my own in some time. I’m a little concerned.
And, I’m going to have to buy a car sooner or later. It’s started making a new, interesting noise, and while I certainly don’t want the expense, I don’t know how much more I can put it off. *Sigh*
In other news, we cheated on our diets yesterday in celebration of my wife’s birthday. A good time was had by all, and I gained four pounds. Huzzah. But it was a nice day, and I hope she had a good time.
I’m looking forward to a long, restful weekend. How about you?
