In the shower, some minutes after 530AM. The brand new tension rod in-shower shelving unit we picked up over the weekend suddenly slides onto the plastic tub floor with a crash and a plastic avalanche of shampoo, conditioner, soap, razor, toothpaste, and washcloth.
My poor wife grogs in moments later, helping me to clear a path out of the shower so I can finish getting ready for work.
At work, some minutes after 1PM. I open my lunch box and pull out lunch. Water drips all over my desk. It’s coming from a sandwich container. It doesn’t have a sandwich in it, it has some of my wife’s amazing low(er) carb chicken enchilada casserole in it. I didn’t notice the water source until I held the container up and it dripped on me.
I did absolutely nothing, whatsoever, over the weekend. I played Mass Effect again for the umpteenth time. I did the whole thing in just over a day on Sunday, and also did one Friday night, finishing up Saturday. So two solid round trips and I have one more I still have to make.
Meanwhile, my manuscript needs the edits my loving First Reader made, and it needs a good run through a spell check program too. When it’s finished there are a few timeline things to look at, and then it’s ready for copy editing. Do I pay for that? Should I ask someone? HM. Decisions.
But tonight is lost to me. Tonight is about reassembling the tension rod shelving and putting it back in the corner, then trying to figure out why it slipped out in the first place. (I suspect it lacked sufficient tension. The other one we installed, in the adjacent corner, seems fine, and it was slightly tighter.)
But I intend to make it my goal to finish that book, at least the manuscript parts I can finish, by the end of the weekend to come.
But for now, I have to finish my cup of Monday. The rest of it has been fairly pleasant so far.
How was your weekend?
