So, you saw me bellyaching about having to cover for someone this week, right? And of course, it’s the pricing inbox, which used to be the easier of the two positions I had to cover for.
However, I remembered there is another inbox, specially created for one (very large) customer, which also has to be monitored. And you know what?
It has a completely separate process than the normal inbox.
What’s really bad, though, is the person doing this job – who makes more money than I do, and supposedly is more business savvy than I am (no snark there, I mean it; I just got dinged for this in my performance appraisal), but claims to be so busy she can’t manage to create and maintain any standard work instructions.
So I have to constantly ask someone how to do something to get this stupid job done. I used to enjoy covering the standard pricing desk. I still do. But the single, customer-specific one? Not at all.
Supposedly, the operations manager (the boss) is going to mandate having that standard work drafted as part of the pricing manager’s performance metrics, but we’ll see. We’ll see.
I don’t know if I’m doing it right. I don’t have any clear instructions at all. I have only the basest idea of what the process should look like, and right now, I’m a little fed up with not knowing what the heck is going on.
In other news, I’m thinking about starting an online serial over at this site, just to see if I can drum up a following. What do you all think? Would you read it if you saw it?
The whole “sign-up to read” thing stinks though.
Anyway, just whining.
Have a good day, and I’ll see you next time.
